Texas Holdem Blinds

In Texas Holdem you will need some initial amount in a pot, even before the cards are dealt. If not, then all players could wait for having aces ahead of making any kind of deal. If you are in the middle of a pot limit game, then this condition will cause trouble. One of the most vital ways of starting this is blinds.

System of Texas Holdem Blinds

If you are sitting at the left side of the dealer button in a limit game, then depending on the stated limitation of the play, the player sitting at the left side of the dealer's button, which is referred to as small blind, then you along with the player to the left of you (big blind) will have to put compulsory bets before dealing the cards. Both these blinds will be counted to your entire investment in the round one of betting.

Hence, if the pot is not topped before the card dealing, the small Texas Holdem blind will just have to place in the other half of the bet to be called. Similarly, the big Texas Holdem blind will not have to place any more amounts in pot, even though the big has the facility to raise his personal blind. In the unraised pot prior to card dealings, this is named as ‘option’.

Amount of Texas Holdem Blinds

What amount will be put out will depend on limits. In Poker games with fixed limits, a bet is put by big blind. This bet is equal to small limit. At the same instance small blind put a bet which is 50 percent of that bet. For example if limit is something like $10/$20, the small blind and the big blind would be $5 and $10 respectively. Here you will not find any factor resembling the pot limit and no limit games of Texas Holdem. In case of a $10/$20 no limit game of Texas Holdem game, the big blind is $10 and the small blind is $5.

The technique which is applied for structuring the Texas Holdem tournaments makes the blinds go up. This happens after a given duration and is termed as ‘escalation’.
